First off, I want you all to know that my battery life article is in the works. It’s been officially two months since I received my Steam Deck. I’ll discuss that series as the year winds down for 2022! It’s going to be one enormous challenge working out what games will make my Top 10 this year. My annual GOTY event will dominate December like always. There have been several game dev interviews and reviews, and I still have plenty of plans for the coming few months. I’ve massively increased my activity on the website, as you can tell by the articles I published in August. I would also question the idea of 'us all knowing V's gameplay is top notch', simply because mechanics do not equal gameplay.We are officially in September! This year has passed like wildfire, I don’t understand it. And even though the cutscene direction is amazing, it's too bad the cutscenes themselves aren't that interesting content-wise. V's main problems are that it doesn't feel centered around any specific theme, has a lot of weird characterizations (primarily Ocelot), suffers from a drawn-out episodic structure which hurts the pacing and has by far the weakest and most poorly written female characters in the series. Just the soundtrack alone makes an enormous difference in how the story is being delivered, imo. Even though it starts off rather well, I think PW's second half is by far the low point of the series' overall storytelling, so V is definitely a cut above PW as far as I'm concerned.ġ, 2, 3 & 4 on the other hand are masterpieces (albeit a flawed one in the case of 4), and I much prefer the themes, writing and various character moments in those as opposed to the ones in V.
